Sharon and I are either on long drives, or out hitting every area cruise night that time and schedule will allow. No matter the venue, we continue to receive positive comments regarding the design, engineering, build quality and the attention to detail that differentiates your product from that of any of your competitors.

Prior to beginning this journey with you, we spent considerable time reviewing build options as well as the companies that could supply a turnkey vehicle. What we found was there are very few doing business who can claim a similar completion rate for their kits, a true “drive away” turnkey option, and most importantly the handling characteristics that you can. Your website, with pictures and videos highlighting your products and past builds, is one of the best and most informative around. We asked about customer references before making our decision to proceed, and every one enthusiastically endorsed your product, and the experience.

As you know I am a “design guy”, and like all my projects I came to this one with a vision. You were able to take all our objectives, our design theme and my numerous sketches and integrate them with your “engineered system” to produce a one of kind vehicle. You worked with us from beginning to end, from original idea through delivery, allowing for the opportunity to brainstorm design ideas, make decisions, select components, and raise questions when we were unsure or felt uncomfortable for any reason. Beyond all the phone calls and email messages that we shared, we will always remember our trip to your shop. During that visit Dave spent a great deal of time explaining to Sharon the details of the vehicle you were building for us. On top of that, both of you thanked us several times for the opportunity to do so. You treated us like royalty, and on that day we knew we had made two new lifelong friends.

Now, specifically regarding our car, Untouchable. The car is fast!, and we only have the base engine option. The retro air cleaner we selected is acting like a ram air system, and I have to believe is adding some horses to the mix. I can’t wait to get it on a dyno. The Posi rearend you installed is a blast and does not compromise the cornering at all. The interior looks fabulous and is very comfortable. Cheers to Detroit Stitching, they nailed it from the sketches I provided. The grey we selected by mixing the standard colors looks great in person and receives many positive comments. I could go on, but the real headline here is the handling. Zero, I mean zero bump steer. Your suspension tracks absolutely straight over bumps and potholes. That is what you sold. That is what you provided. The steering for non-assisted is light and nimble. Many vehicles like this are fast, and many look good. There are very few that handle this well, and fewer still that combine handling, speed and good looks.

You gentlemen know your game, and you have a great product. We would consider it an honor to provide you with a reference at any time. Cue the music! "

"Dave & Tom,

First and foremost, thank you both for the truly great experience of bouncing ideas back and forth while you two were building the baddest hot rod on the planet! I can't begin to tell you how much fun this car is. I have been fortunate in my life to have owned a few "toys" such as motorcycles, jet skis, a jet boat and a performance car. None come close to this hot rod as far as "fun per dollar"! The car is a beast! I've been up to 115 mph and it was smooth and straight, and it gets there quick!

To anyone out there looking at the Detroit Speedcraft website thinking about buying a T-Bucket, stop thinking about it and get one!!! You won't regret it, unless your shy. These cars attract a lot of attention. I have had video taken by many people riding next to me. People from 8 to 80 LOVE this car, if I had a nickel for every time it's picture was taken, I could buy another one!

You guys should be very proud of your products. The workmanship is superb. Please feel free to have any potential customers give me a call, I would be happy to tell them what a great car this is. I wish I lived somewhere warm so I could drive it all year; maybe I'll move!!! Thanks again for everything and helping me through "midlife crisis".

You guys are the best. I LOVE MY HOT ROD!"

"Tom & Dave,

I had been looking into building a T Bucket for quite some time when I came across what I thought was the coolest car I had ever seen! The "Moon Rat", it was on the Red Hills Rods & Choppers web page. I made a few calls and was appropriately directed to you guys. Although it took me a few years to decide to have a kit with pre-assembly options built for me, I have never second guessed my decision to build with Detroit Speedcraft!

After placing my order, I received top notch customer service and care. Excellent communication, photos and timelines were provided, so I could stay involved from 750 miles away. I couldn't begin to express the value in my road trip to the shop to take ownership of the hot rod project. The hands on experience doing a walk through with Tom & Dave, the down to earth attitudes, and the sincere camaraderie between them and the guys that made the road trip with me, were invaluable.

The "23 T Hot Rod in a Box" kit has gone together perfectly. Tom and Dave have been there for me for a number of engineering questions, and always provide a quick response with photos and explanations. The bucket is built, and road tested. Will be shooting it with paint and finish up within the next 30 days.

Can't begin to thank Tom & Dave enough for a great experience and a great Hot Rod kit."

"Dave & Tom,

Just wanted to drop you a note about my Hot Rod. Things are going together perfectly. I am just about done with the mock up a little more work on the windshield frame and a few small things and it will be ready to take apart for painting. Hope you like all the photos I sent. Just so you know I am building my Hot Rod in a 12x28 one car garage. Not a lot of extra room, but enough for the 23T.

Again, thanks for making the absolute BEST Hot Rod kit I have ever seen!!!!!!!! This is one COOL build everyone that sees it loves it. Talk to you guys soon."

"My father and I decided to build a hot rod together, so we set out to find a solution that optimized coolness and "build-ability." Who cares how cool it looks in a brochure or website if you can't get it down the road? We had zero experience with the subject matter involved, save for the basic principles of an internal combustion engine or how brakes work. But after much research, deliberation, and many phone and email conversations with Tom and Dave, we felt confident and decided to invest in a kit from Detroit Speedcraft.

The build process was a blast. Although we could have accomplished the build more quickly, over the course of five months we had ourselves a finished car. And there were lots of milestones along the way that we'll never forget; seeing the stance of the car after getting the white walls tires installed, the getting the engine to turn over the first time, seeing the brake lights work, and hearing the engine roar for the first time - the memories are priceless.

If you're considering the purchase of a car or kit from Detroit Speedcraft, I recommend the company and their product without hesitation. The car is designed well, the kit goes together as described, and the looks you get from kids and adults alike make it a blast to drive and a worthwhile investment."

"Tom and Dave,

What a GREAT CAR! I've owned my Fat Rat for a full year now, and it has been AWSOME! My wife and I have put a little over 5000 miles on "Mickey Rat", and he's never missed a beat. We live in Toledo, OH. and most cruises in our area are 65 miles to the North, in the Metropolitan Detroit area, so we spend a lot of time on I-75. Our Fat Rat cruises the expressway flawlessly. We usually cruise the E-way at 75 m.p.h., and it is stable and comfortable! When we hit the local cruises, like the Woodward Dream Cruise, he transitions to the ultimate cruiser... Rolling slow at 20 m.p.h. without hesitation, ALL DAY LONG! The quality, fit, finish and value have all been top shelf. I recommend NEHR Speedcraft to ALL my friends, family and the other Hot Rodders I meet. Tom and Dave do an EXCELLENT job and have been great to work with."

"Tom and Dave,

What a great day! I was invited up to Milan Dragway with "Mickey Rat", for a day of racing. Could've got my trailer out, but my car is a driver, so I hit US 23 North and headed to Milan. It was a sunny day, so I loped along at about 75 mph all the way. When I got to Milan, I stopped to gas-up. Had a family stop me for a few photos of the car, and then headed over to the drag strip. Ran 9 times! What a consistent car! Had a best time of 12.88 @ 105.68, but almost ALL runs were right around 12.90 to 12.98!

Started to get late, and I had to head back to Ohio. As everyone else packed up their trailers... I fired up my Rat Rod, and DROVE IT HOME! And it was still sunny, so, I headed out at about 75 mph. When I got home, I picked up my wife, and we went out and cruised Toledo. As I said, what a GREAT day!"

"Tom and Dave,

Building my ’23-T 'HOT ROD in a BOX Kit' has been a blast. I want to tell you how much fun it has been to build my own car from the ground up using your kit. As you know, I bought the pre-assembly option - I wanted the challenge of building it myself, but having never built a car I wanted some guidance. The You-Tube videos have been invaluable and along with that you have answered every question when asked. The car rides and drives like dream. My problem now is I can't get my wife out of it. I have had more people ask me were I got the car and with pride I have passed them along to Detroit Speedcraft. Thanks again for all your help and great ride."

John Ward - Sioux City, Iowa

"Dear Tom and Dave,

I want to thank you guys for answering all of the many question I had during the building of my 23-T Hot Rod kit. You returned 100% of my calls and always with great promptness. Everything was exactly as you said it would be. The kit is very complete and simple. I believe that two people working a couple hours a day can be on the road in less than a month. Sure, there will be some detail work to finish but that is the fun part. Everyone who has seen my kit have commented on its quality. The welds are beautiful. Anyone that is thinking of buying a kit or completed car should talk to me. I am proud to be the owner of one of your quality cars. Best wishes to two great guys."

Branch Richardson - Greenville, N.C.

NOTE: Branch got his car on the road in 9 months.

"We bought a kit and consulting from Detroit Speedcraft to build a '23 T-bucket from scratch at Macomb College. Tom and Dave were instrumental in the success of this project. They helped us tear down walls between our own internal departments, such as Design, Welding, Auto, and Graphics (MACA). They taught us how to build joint large scale projects. Tom and Dave are not only great to work with, but they're great teachers themselves. Because of their past (vast) experience building cars themselves, they know the purpose of every last nut and bolt, angle, joint, etc. You can't ask them something they don't know. And while we threw them a last minute curve ball by converting and fitting a 5.3L fuel injected to alcohol, they worked through the problems and solved them without hesitation. Because of this we plan to challenge them with two more cars, one with a 6.2L converted to CNG and the next using fuel cell technology. Fasten your seat belts! We're confident they can pull this off."

Gary Walters - Professor, Macomb Community College, MI

"Building my ’27-T 'HOT ROD in a BOX Kit' has been a blast. I want to tell you how much pleasure it is to build my own car from the ground up using your kit. As you know, I bought the first basic Detroit Speedcraft ’27 kit with no pre-assembly - I wanted the challenge of building it myself. Every step has been a satisfying experience because of the engineering you guys put into the design, and the technical help you have given me on the phone. You have answered all my questions and sometimes even called just to see how I’m doing. If you ever need a reference, have them call me. I know of no better roadster kit."

John Ireland - Nampa, Idaho

NOTE: John got his car on the road in 10 months.

"I drove this car 550 miles (9 hours) in 110 plus degree desert heat. It is a blast to drive. Great car!"

"Dear Tom and Dave,

We received our HOT ROD SCHOOL in a BOX in January of 2011 and in about one school year we were able display our car at the 2012 Detroit Autorama. Our car has received a lot of attention and has excited and motivated our students. As a project based learning program it has involved graphic arts, industrial/manufacturing, auto tech, and wood shop. These departments have never worked together before and had a great time learning by doing. Detroit Speedcraft was with us throughout the whole process and was very responsive when we had questions or any difficulties. I would recommend Detroit Speedcraft to any school that is looking for a project based learning program that is achievable and capable of involving many students."

"Baker College of Flint would like to thank Detroit Speedcraft for a great product and their assistance with our ’23 T-Bucket “HOT ROD School in a Box” kit. This project has been a great experience for our students and has really gotten them engaged in learning. This was built by our student club , Vehicle City Gear Heads. The Club is made up by students in Automotive, Auto Body and Welding programs. It was a great experience brining students from different programs together to build this project. Taking the T-Bucket or as we like to call it the “Baker Bucket” to Autorama was a huge success. It has shown what Baker College students can accomplish. We have received an enormous amount of positive feedback from various car shows we have already attended. Thanks again to Tom and Dave of Detroit Speedcraft for all the service and support they provided."

Dan Trahey - Baker College of Flint, Auto Body and Welding Program Director
